Go pro travelling is a web app that allows users to plan and map trips. They may save and share travel maps and display destination information that may be of use to other travelers. Users may create itineraries that are flexibleShow more screenshots »
Go pro travelling was founded in January 2012 by Guido Colombo and Thomas Ripoll. There is no information regarding the development of the application and no traffic data to the website has been recorded.
Go pro travelling is not as simple and intuitive as other travel organization tools. Extraneous details clutter the interface and the dark background makes it difficult to view and use. There are many apps available for trip planning and recording that are easier to use than this one.
The first impression is the overwhelming dashboard. Choices offered are Map my trip, travel maps, stories of the month, forum, and book now. The user is prompted to design a travel map first.
To create a new map, the user is faced with another overwhelming screen. First, the trip must be named. Then, the user indicates whether this is a real trip or itinerary, meaning a trip with specific dates and times or a trip that is either past, present, or future with the designations Day 1, 2, etc. The user must choose whether to make the map public or private and social media accounts may be added to share comments about it. Transportation via flight, walk, vehicle, or bike must be indicated.
At this point, it appears that the user simply clicks on destinations on the world map to indicate travel stops. Photos may be uploaded and comments added for each destination. A trip may be saved or deleted.
Stories of the month are posted by users and popular stories are available as well. A travel deal is offered through the app, and users may book the trip directly through Go pro travelling.
Public maps are shared on the site, though very few users shared comments or photos. The forum is mostly questions and at least one was asked more than a month ago without answer from the site management.
At the moment, distances are only measured in kilometers.
Despite the Quick Start menu, the app is cluttered and not easy to use. There is no indication of how to reopen the menu steps if the user has forgotten how to use a function and there is no FAQ or instruction page. The real usefulness of this app is questionable.
Users may connect with Facebook, approving access to basic information and email address, or Twitter, giving permission to read tweets in the users timeline, view followers and follow new people, update the user's profile and post tweets for the user. Users may also create an account within Go pro travelling by providing a first and last name, email address, password, birthdate, and gender.
Users may begin to use the program immediately.
The app is completely free to use.
Without a mobile app, and with the current interface, users may want to look further than Go pro travelling for planning and documenting their trips.
